How can I check and send e-mails? (Incoming and Outgoing Mailserver)

Incoming Mailserver POP3

New e-mails are downloaded from the server to your local computer if you use POP3 to check your e-mails.

You can configure for each mailbox in your e-mail client under server settings whether and when e-mails should be deleted after the POP3 retrieval from the server.

Incoming Mailserver IMAP

If you want to use IMAP instead of POP3, there will be performed a synchronization between the e-mail client and the mailserver. The advantage of this is that e-mails are available from different computers and locations. However, more memory space will be used on the server.

Outgoing Mailserver SMTP

The process of sending e-mails follows modern SMTP authentication. You must authenticate yourself to the outgoing mailserver with the same credentials in your email client as specified for the incoming mailserver.

If you use Microsoft Outlook to check your e-mail, please make sure to enable the option "Outgoing mailserver requires authentication" in the advanced settings for the outgoing mailserver.
